Google Play ASO that respects how Play works
Play is not the App Store with different field names. The limits, the rules and the testing tools differ, so the listing needs its own plan.
What is different on Play
Google Play limits the app name to 30 characters, the short description to 80 and the full description to 4000. Google advises against long, repetitive descriptions and publishes a keyword-list example of what not to write, so writing for Play means writing clearly, not stuffing words.
Most of a Play listing can be edited without shipping a new build, but changes are reviewed. That makes testing faster than on iOS, and it means a mistake can reach visitors sooner.
What we do
Read the listing
Title, short and full description, graphics and ratings, next to the apps that rank above you.
Rewrite for Play
Text that is clear to a person and consistent with what Google asks of you.
Rework the graphics
Icon, feature graphic and screenshots, with the first impression in mind.
Test
Store listing experiments can test text as well as graphics, which the App Store cannot. We run them and read them honestly.
Use custom store listings
Up to 50 per app, for different countries or audiences, when it is worth the upkeep.
Questions about Google Play ASO
Is Play easier than the App Store?
Different, not easier. Edits ship faster and tests can include text, but policy review is strict and a listing can be rejected.
Can I use the same text as on iOS?
Rarely. The fields, the limits and the rules differ, so we write the Play listing for Play.
Do you also do Apple Search Ads?
Yes, for the App Store. On Play, paid work goes through Google Ads, which we can discuss during the audit.
Do I need to give you access?
Not for the audit. For ongoing work, read access to Play Console makes it faster.
